New Best Friend
Met this guy named Justin Bieber in Las Vegas. Happy to announce that I'll be headed out on tour with him this summer. #blessed
What I'm Doing Here
Can't get over this view, happy Jessi convinced me to drive the Saturn down this June, otherwise this probably wouldn't have been possible... even if for only mere minutes.
Mexico Wasn't too Dangerous
With a view like this one can definitely risk a kidnapping am I right? The house we stayed in looked like a vacation villa Scarface would have built in the early 1980's making it a great spot for a bachelor party. A house full of bros and tons of cheap booze made for quite the weekend in San Felipe, Mexico which is located on the baja peninsula just south of Los Angeles, CA. I'll have to go back when the temperature doesn't hover north of 100 degrees on a daily basis.
Bombay Beach: America's Hell Hole
This place is probably the worst place I've ever visited.. and yes I've been to Cleveland. Odd smells, sludgy water, dead fish bones littering the beach and bombed out trailors littered the landscape.
How this place exists in America.. I'll never know
Embrace the Doing
The past twelve months was certainly a time for going places, doing whatever I felt was a good idea at the time and boy was it a great year for going places and doing things I probably wouldn't have done otherwise. Every single month of 2013 I made it a point of going someplace or doing something that i would normally do. It's easy for me to sit around my apartment and entertain myself with all of my gadgetry but what sort of utility is that really gaining me in the long run? None. That's what.
I aim to continue this approach in 2014 and seemingly it's already off to a good start. Watched Michigan State win the Rose Bowl and just recently spent a day in Vancouver just because.
In the end you've only got one life to live, so you may as well fucking live it. Right?
Oh some of the places I've been in 2013....
- Salt Lake City
- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles
- Detroit
- Camped at the base of Mt. Adams
- San Francisco
- London
- Edinburgh
- Oakland
- THE ROSE BOWL
- Drove Seattle to Los Angeles and back (2x)
Nothing But Time
I ended up having a wonderful week off in California to just hang around and turn off my brain for a bit. It was quite a good time. The ability to clear my thoughts and just stare out into the vast tract of city below was amazing, I need more of that in my life.
Post from the Road: Los Angeles
Driving to Los Angeles last weekend there was a lot of "think time" built in as I tore down I-5 in a frantic attempt to escape the cold of Seattle for the warmth of Southern California in my road ready and battle tested Saturn Vue. A mighty fine and capable automobile I might add; model year 2008, less than 50K miles and a fresh set of Goodyears', the ol girl sure is humming along great! Back to the topic at hand...thinking and vacation time.
This is the first instance I've had with uninterupted time off in which to do nothing and turn my brain off in several years and let me tell you, having days off with absolutely noting to do has been pretty fantastic. I can see why people do this type of thing and do it frequetly based on all the folks I see milling around these parts during the mid afternoon. All in all, I've spent the early part of the week lounging around Marc's Southern California Bro Compound with little complaint.
I have done some of my favorite things so far.
- Wash My Car
- Drink Beer from local Brewery
- Enjoy Sunshine
- Visit seedy drinking establishment in questionable part of town
- Take long walk around neighborhood in order to continue my Fitbit dominace over friendly rivals
- Take photos of myself drinking coffee.
- Be in California
When I will come back, who knows. I will probably begin that trek Saturday or Sunday depnding on state of mind (Sunday if i am Crazy). Until then there will be much in the way of turkey deep frying and fun having. Pictures of which I am sure you will see. For now, enjoy this...
