Mexico Wasn't too Dangerous

With a view like this one can definitely risk a kidnapping am I right?  The house we stayed in looked like a vacation villa Scarface would have built in the early 1980's making it a great spot for a bachelor party.  A house full of bros and tons of cheap booze made for quite the weekend in San Felipe, Mexico which is located on the baja peninsula just south of Los Angeles, CA.  I'll have to go back when the temperature doesn't hover north of 100 degrees on a daily basis.

April Showers

I suppose this is a bit late, but I have had a fairly busy beginning of May.  April saw less adventuring on the whole, but in all the month wasn't that bad.  I was able to spend two days in San Francisco which enabled me to catch up with some friends and watch the Giants play the Dodgers at AT&T Park.  Capping off the month of April was a nice little trip through some of America with Katy Taylor and her brand new certified pre owned Honda Elemnet.

I'd call April 2014 a win.

Oh the places I went:

  • San Francisco, CA
  • Colorado
  • Montana
  • Idaho
  • Wyoming
  • Little Big Horn National Battlefield

March Adventuring

March without the Madness.  Here are some of the highlights:

  • Saw a new band with Jessi called Lake Street Dive.  They were pretttttttty amazing.  You can check them out here:  http://youtu.be/IdTPwziETx8
  • I was able to attend a Michigan State basketball game in person for the first time in a couple of years.  A nice 4.5 hour drive to Spokane to watch my beloved Spartans was certainly well worth the fatigue it caused me in the following week.  They won and are now continuing their way through the NCAA Tournament.
  • Skiied Whistler Blackcomb with some amazing friends of mine.  if you had asked me three years ago if I would have done something like that, i would have called you crazy for even sugessting such a thing.
  • Vinod and I attended the Omniture Summit for a second consecutive year.  Connecting with former co workers, learning about the direction of the analytics product we use, attending a Utah Jazz game and hanging out in Park City with some folks from Adobe was a nice ending to a pretty great month.

I had a pretty great time in March, the one thing missing from this year was a trip to Vegas for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  We'll have to put that back on the calender for next year!

Places visited:

  • Spokane, WA
  • Whistler, B.C.
  • Salt Lake City, Utah

See Ya February!

While you were short, you sure were a lot of fun.  Brief highlights:

  • Seattle winning the Super Bowl, while not my beloved Detroit Lions, was great fun to be around and made everyone in usually a gloomy month, very very happy.
  • Taking a short work trip to San Francisco, being in some warm weather for a few days was very invigorating.  Seeing old friends and current work colleagues was an absolute pleasure as the cold and rain in Seattle really starts to get to me in the winter time.
  • Finally getting some snow here in the mountains so we could go skiing was prettttty great as well.

All in all, February was great fun and hopefully March continues on the same.

Embrace the Doing

The past twelve months was certainly a time for going places, doing whatever I felt was a good idea at the time and boy was it a great year for going places and doing things I probably wouldn't have done otherwise.  Every single month of 2013 I made it a point of going someplace or doing something that i would normally do.  It's easy for me to sit around my apartment and entertain myself with all of my gadgetry but what sort of utility is that really gaining me in the long run?  None. That's what.

I aim to continue this approach in 2014 and seemingly it's already off to a good start. Watched Michigan State win the Rose Bowl and just recently spent a day in Vancouver just because.

In the end you've only got one life to live, so you may as well fucking live it.  Right?

Oh some of the places I've been in 2013....

  • Salt Lake City
  • Las Vegas
  • Los Angeles
  • Detroit
  • Camped at the base of Mt. Adams
  • San Francisco
  • London
  • Edinburgh
  • Oakland
  • THE ROSE BOWL
  • Drove Seattle to Los Angeles and back (2x)

My Candlestick Park Memories are of Defeat

So the 49ers are moving to the South Bay where all of the tech money is.  Fantastic.  It's great I was able to attend two games at Candlestick Park before the 49ers move to Santa Clara. Although the stadium was a hell hole, being there in the sunshine one second and having the temperature drop and the fog roll over into the stadium in a matter of 15 minutes is something i am glad I was able to experience. Granted the two rooting interests I had both suffered defeat at the hands of the 49ers but overall a pretty great life experience for someone who enjoys sports as I do.
